Middle East Jobs

This page has migrated to  www.ExpatWaterCooler.com .  There you will find all the information we had here plus hot updates on jobs around the world.
Jobs in the Middle East are still booming and if you decide that you are willing to work in a War Zone or close to it we have the names of companies on the right that have openings in the Middle East.  Some people who do not want to work in the War Zone's prefer to work in countries like Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and the UAE (Dubai) but do not think those countries are totally safe.  Remember they are in areas that are not known for there stability.  We would never recommend any one to work in a dangerous area, that is a decision that only you can make.  We can tell you that the region is very profitable from our personal experience.  Some of us have worked in war zones around the world and some have always stayed just out side that area.  If you have experience they are looking for and can pass a background check you have a good chance of getting a job in this area and if you also have overseas experience you should not have a problem getting work there at all.  The hardest part of getting a job in the Middle East is finding the right company and knowing what company has job openings.  We have a list of companies on the right that other expats and our selves know about.  We do not say if they are good companies to work for because everyone is different but we can say that these companies have been added to our list because of personal experience by one of us or because another expat recommended it.

Middle East jobs can be a huge boost to your savings or allow you to get out of debt in just one year.  If you have already considered the risks of working in the middle east and decided to find a job there you should know a few things.  Iraq of course is one of the places to work that has high paying jobs but there are other countries around Iraq that have less risk and in some cases only a $20,000 - $40,000 difference in pay.  You have to decide if working in Iraq where you will live in a tent and have very little to do is worth that extra $20K - $40K when you could work in a country like Kuwait for two years and end up making more in the long run.  You need to research the company you are applying for and find out what the real difference is monetarily working in each country.  Some contracts in Iraq are huge but you need to make sure that it is with a company that actually looks out for your safety.  Jobs in Kuwait are typically range from $80,000 - $140,000 so if you are finding a job in Iraq that pays in that range Kuwait would be your better option.  If you find a job in Iraq that pays in the range of $190,000 - $250,000 it would be really tough to find that kind of pay in Kuwait, UAE or Qatar.  Middle East jobs can make you a lot of money but it is also important to know what you are worth there so a company dose not get you cheap.

There are so many different kinds of jobs in the Middle East we can not name them all here on the site.  The Middle East jobs out there cover pretty much every industry.  The technical jobs pay great but construction jobs can end up paying you more because in the construction job you work all the time.  You can literally work as many hours as you want to in some construction jobs and in the tech jobs you may have a set schedule to work.  If you work construction you know your hourly wage is comparable to a tech in many cases.  Just like there are different levels at the tech position there are different levels in the construction world and you should ensure that you are getting paid the going rate before you go out there.  The Middle East job market is booming and if you decided to take on of these jobs make sure you do your research first.  You can hear complaints about every company that is out there but for each complaint you can hear good things about the companies as well.  Research the company you are going to take a job with and then decide if it is someone you are willing to work for.  Some companies out there try to make there workers think they are luck to have been given a chance and make them worry about there job each year when contracts come up for renewal.  The best thing you can do is keep your updated resume out there so you know what you are worth and if you can make more money with another employer sign with them instead of resigning with your current company.
