When you are looking for an overseas job remember that if you get an interview do not just answer questions. You want to ask if there is company housing and a vehicle allowance. Another good question is how much of your belongings are they willing to pay for you to ship. If the company dose not cover housing, vehicle and shipping costs you can probably find a better company out there to work for. This dose depend on the kind of job you are looking for but if it is a job that they need to fill with an American those things should be paid for. If you are in high demand you will also want to ask about a signing bonus and a completion bonus. Remember many overseas jobs pay a lot more then you are used to so do not short change yourself. There are a lot of overseas jobs out there and there are always positions that need to be filled. Overseas jobs, from an American stand point, are a huge untapped resource in the job market. There are not a high number of Americans that travel and even fewer Americans work overseas. If you are a technician and can pass a background check for a security clearance you can go from making $45,000 a year to over $100,000 a year depending on where the job is located at. If you are currently looking for work and decided that moving is an option you should really consider looking into the overseas jobs that are out there. |
